Highlanders Grill And Tavern: A Must-Visit Dining Destination in Seven Devils, NC

I admit my expectations were relatively low as we didn't do any research before stopping in and I LOVED this place. The burger was freaking delicious and Stephanie was a fantastic server. The side salads were huge and super fresh, too.

Verdict: Open late, but mid food Food: our group ordered a variety of items from wings to burgers to fish and chips. Everything tasted tolerable. No one’s meal was memorable. I had the fish and chips and the fish was under seasoned and over cooked. Perhaps I should’ve had lower expectations, but we came hungry, and did not leave fulfilled. Service: The service was great. We were seated quickly on a Friday night and the servers were attentive. There’s open karaoke as well. Note- the karaoke area is open to the main restaurant so if you don’t want to hear random people sing, you should go elsewhere. Price: Pricing was honestly quite fair. I expected a deeper markup for food in Banner Elk but there wasn’t one.

Walked in to place an order to go. Ordered two double smash burgers and fries. My husband and I both loved them. They were one of the best smash burgers that we've ever had...cooked to perfection, seasoned well and very juicy. Service was very quick and the food came out exactly as we ordered it. Based on this positive experience, we will definitely return when we're in the area and we highly recommend it.

A great dive bar with bar and pub food that is fantastic! They had a Mac and cheese friend chicken sandwich here that I still dream about. Cold beer that hits just right after a long day of skiing. Would highly recommend stopping here on your trip up to sugar or beech. The wings are good, the fries are fresh and salty. The chicken is great, I would highly recommend. It’s a dive bar though, take into account that is where you will be. It’s still very family friendly though, like a taco Mac in the mountains.

Got to give it to the team that took care of all the patrons efficiently while being short staffed. The pretzel appetizer was a solid choice and the pub chips are a surprisingly good side. Been here a couple of times whenever I visit, and always a quick and easy stop.

We ate there on vacation. Strong grease smell when we walked in understandable after we got inside mostly fried food. Atmosphere okay for us. My wife had grown up grilled cheese and French fries. Stated grill cheese was good and fries were great. I had 1/2 pound burger and gator tots. Burger was wonderful tasting tots average store bought. Waitress was friendly and accommodating I would probably go back there again, if I was in the area.
